Hotels Douglas

Rutland Hotel

Queens Promenade, Douglas IM2 4NF, Isle of Man – 01624 695240

Excellent hotel, very comfortable beds, we had a beautiful sea facing room. Very clean and cleaner came in everyday. Great breakfast each morning with lots of choice. The gem here is the staff, they are just wonderful and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Highly recommend this hotel.

Brilliant attentive staff good food good clean hotel rooms clean and comfy. Only down side no air con in bedrooms .We were there in august and it was warm but this said the good service outwieghs this. Thanks to Jake and all the staff for making our stay so relaxing and pleasant

Welbeck Hotel & Restaurant

13 Mona Dr, Douglas IM2 4LF – 01624 612349

Just had a gammon steak - absolutely huge - very tasty and excellent value for 10 quid. Staff were very friendly and served the hand-pull pints to perfection. What more can you ask for?

Great staff. Very accommodating. Rooms are nice. Breakfast great. Location good.

The Sefton

Harris Promenade - Douglas, Douglas IM1 2HH, Isle of Man – 01624 645500

Lovely hotel, Just needs updating with a little TLC. The staff are very good & friendly. Our room was a very good size with sea views, the room itself was very warm & we could only slightly open 2 windows out of the 5 in the room. The bed was OK as we had quite a restful sleep each night apart from the room getting very warm. There was traffic noise even though there was secondary glazing but it did not bother us too much. The food at breakfast was very nice & there was plenty of choice. The carpets in general in the hotel need a good clean & so do the lounge chairs in our room need a clean or replacing. The shower is a good size & has quite a powerful water jet to it which makes a nice change for such a large hotel. The hotel in general is lovely & clean but as I say it needs updating. I do recommend anyone to the Sefton.

It's difficult to put into words how great this place is. It has everything you would ever need to make a perfect wedding day. The staff are warm and friendly, always making you feel welcome. The food is amazing too. And the atrium is astounding, it's bright, warm and spacious. Looking forward to shooting more weddings here.

I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Douglas Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Terminus Tavern

Strathallan Crescent, Douglas IM2 4NR – 01624 624312

Lovely pub. The food was superb and plentiful and a good selection of fine real ales. A very friendly and welcoming place to visit. This place made our pleasant stay in the IOM even nicer. Would I recommend this place to others? Absolutely, you won't be disappointed. Top marks from me on everything.

Nice location next to the horse tram and electric tram terminal. Friendly service and.nice variations in the menu. Onenhood thing is that they have smaller portions on offer at close to half price if the full portions. Prices are in general reasonable. There is a nice outside area to enjoy especially during good weather.

The Woodbourne

Alexander Drive, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM2 3QF, Douglas IM2 3NS – 01624 676754

Good beer, guest ales usually on tap. Fun quiz on a Sunday night (8.30pm prompt start). Popular pub, but "gastropub"?....... I don't think so! I may be wrong but I'm not aware of them serving food at any time.

A personal favourite of mine. The seats may be falling apart, but the clientele and ambience are so 'local it hurts. Only 4 stars as it's probably not for everyone.

HQ Bar & Restaurant

1 Empire Terrace, Douglas IM2 4LE, Isle of Man – 01624 676355

Just returned from a weekend staying at H Q hotel Glen Mona. Everything about this place was fantastic & great value for money. The room was spotless with lovely furniture, beds were so comfortable, breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. We met a great staff member named KEN who helped with any queries. I would definatly only want to stay here again if returning to the Isle of Man. Thanks H Q for a very pleasant stay. Birkenhead Girls

Groudle Glen Cottages

Douglas, Isle of Man – 01624 623075

First time we've stopped here while on the island.Loved it from day one, William couldnt have been more helpful.A little home from home and probably the best nights sleep I've had on the island.Booked two cottages as there was 7 of us(2 families).Booked for another trip in October within two days of arriving.Very Quiet place close enough to Douglas for all amenities.only put five stars as limited to five otherwise it would have been more.

Just stayed there for a week - my wife, two children and our Jack Russell. Chalet 51 (Pet cottage) at the front. Excellent location, lovely little beach (good fun when the tide is out) and an easy walk to both the electric tram station for journeying up and down the island as well as the quaint little Victorian steam train station across the glen which runs on most Sundays in summer. The unit was clean if a touch basic but the location more than made up for it. Regular, non-intrusive, visits from the resident Manx cat pleased the children. Lovely glen and coastal walks from the cottages as well.

The Old Stable

Rear of Seaview, 59 Governors Road, Douglas IM3 4AE – 01624 627892

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Raymonds Bed And Breakfast

9 Hutchinson Square, Hutchinson Square, Douglas IM2 4HU – 01624 614621

Our Visitors recently stayed at Raymond's for a two night stay, the owner is very nice. They stayed in the larger of the two rooms, they had the downstairs lounge to themselves. The location very convenient in a quiet neighborhood across from a park yet close to the promenade/seafront, perfect for a morning walk or run. It is more suited to couples rather than friends sharing as there is one bed. Breakfast is made to order.

Faultless absolutely faultless this is the best b&b we've ever stayed at, it has far surpassed our expectations. This is a high quality b&b, the attention to detail was second to none. Bone china crockery and beautiful cutlery were used throughout our stay. The bed linen, table linen and towels were of the finest quality. The rooms are of an extremely high standard and are immaculately clean. They even offer a iron and ironing board and of course a hairdyer and tea tray in the bedrooms. The food served was local produce where possible and was of the highest quality. Dan and Lou have thought of everything and as such offer far more than is necessary or even expected. There is a comfortable guest lounge where tea/coffee is available at any time together with biscuits, sweets, fruit and cake, (some of which are homemade by Lou) and are all free. Full sky tv is available both in the lounge and bedrooms as is the high speed free WiFi. Lou and Dan are the perfect hosts, nothing at all was too much trouble for them. We were welcomed into their home as strangers and felt like part of their family by the time we left.

Southfields B and B

Abbeylands, Douglas IM4 5EG, Isle of Man – 01624 672830

Prepare to be impressed! A beautiful venue surrounded by equally stunning countryside. The house is immaculately finished with large rooms/bathrooms. There is a good size dining area for breakfast and a guest living room which is lovely. From the moment we arrived Jill and Peter have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food has been fantastic also! I spend a lot of my professional time in hotels around the UK - many of the 5 star rated ones don’t come close to Southfields! If you’re looking to book on the Isle of Man - look no further!

Hospitality is second to none, Jill is a very warm and welcoming host. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. Our experience has been first class and would have no hesitation to reccomend a stay at Southfields.

The Devonian

Derby Road Douglas IM, Douglas IM2 4EN, Isle of Man – 01624 674676

Best breakfast we have experienced, and we travel a lot. Shame there are only five stars. They deserve more Gillian and Kevin were perfect hosts. Would we stay here again? Definitely.

Nice little cosy B&B. Lovely, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast.

We run an Airbnb bed and breakfast down in Devon (house below) - and we have stayed in Airbnb accommodation all over the place. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Great location, good facilities on site, toilets, showers, parking. Freshly cooked food at competitive prices produced by a very hardworking team. Really enjoyed our stay in the pre-erected two-man tent, plenty of room in bedroom, outer area had a table + two chairs supplied. Will definitely stay again.
